An action-packed teaser for Anthony and Joe Russo’s highly anticipated Netflix spy thriller, The Gray Man, has been released ahead of its scheduled release later this month. Russo Brothers tweeted out a new teaser of the film on Friday, which features combat sequences, pyrotechnics, and Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans prepping for a fight as First Man and Lightyear, respectively. Sierra Six, played by Ryan Gosling, walks through the throng as fireworks explode overhead.
It is made apparent in the accompanying voice-over that he is a target because he has “gotten his hands on some damaging material.” Former colleague Lloyd Hansen (Evans) comes and begs for the name of the target, which Gentry does not give him. To call him “The Gray Man” would be an insult. A vehicle pursuit, an aircraft accident, and even more explosions are in store for the audience in the next few moments. The preview closes with Hansen asking Gentry if he’s ready to “dance,” which clearly means fight, and promises that the film will be “the most exciting film of the summer.
Hansen lands a blow after the two square off. In Mark Greaney’s novel series of the same name, The Gray Man follows Gentry, who has unearthed the most sinister secrets of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As a result, Hansen has set his sights on him and is determined to bring him to justice. Agent Dani, played by Ana de Armas, appears to be Gentry’s only hope (No Time to Die). Billy Bob Thornton, Rege-Joan Page, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura and Alfre Woodard are also in the cast. Avengers: Endgame writers Christoper Markus and Stephen McFeely collaborated with Joe Russo on the script.
The Gray Man has a rumoured budget of about $200 million, making it one of Netflix’s most costly productions to date. Select cinemas will screen the film on July 15, before it debuts on Netflix the following week on July 22.
