With the addition of a new book series, the Bridgerton literary universe is being expanded. Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer of the successful Netflix adaption, and the author of the romance series, Julia Quinn, want to collaborate on a new prequel set in the world of Bridgerton. ‘Veep’ will be the basis for a new book series that has yet to be named, according to Variety. As a bonus, it will serve as a prequel to the youthful Queen Charlotte-centered Netflix spinoff, Bridgerton. We’ll learn about how Charlotte met and married King George III in this new historical fiction work. The book series will explore how the couple’s love sparked a social revolution that resulted in the ethnically diverse world shown in the Netflix series.
As with previous Bridgerton books, the book will be published by Avon Books, which has done so for many years. When the Netflix spinoff series premieres, the novels will be released to coincide with that debut. India Bridgerton star Golda Rosheuval (Lady Macbeth) portrays Queen Charlotte, a well-known English queen, in the Netflix prequel television series. Ria Amarteifio (The Tunnel, Sex Education) plays a youthful version of Queen Charlotte in the Netflix prequel series.
King George is played by Corey Mylchreest (Mars, Elevator Pitch). There will also be stories about a young Violet Ledger (Connie Jenkins-Greig from The Take Down) and a young Lady Danbury (despite the fact that the young queen is the show’s main focus) (Arsema Thomas, Redeeming Love). As Vivian Ledger and Lord Ledger, respectively, Katie Brayben (A Serial Killer’s Guide To Life) and Kier Charles (Man Up) also appear in the Netflix prequel series. Michelle Fairley, Sam Clemmett, Hugh Sachs, Richard Cunningham, Tunji Kasim, Rob Maloney, and Cyril Nri (all of Coronation Street) will also be appearing in the new show (This Life).
Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh, and Ruth Gemmell, who played Lady Danbury and Violet Bridgerton, respectively, in the original series, are all returning to reprise their roles in the prequel, but the degree of their involvement is still unclear at this time. Rhimes will produce the spinoff series alongside Betsy Beers and director Tom Verica in addition to returning as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
When the Netflix series premieres in 2023, the Bridgerton offshoot novel will be available.
