More actors have joined the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series Lady in the Lake, making it even more intriguing. New cast members Noah Jupe and Mike Epps were the first to be confirmed, along with Byron Bowers (Honey Boy), Josiah Cross-Wiggins (King Richard), and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Jacob’s Ladder). They’ll be joined by the already announced Y’Lan Noel; Mikey Madison; Brett Gelman; Natalie Portman; and Moses Ingram, who was just cast to replace Lupita Nyong’o. It is based on Laura Lippman’s best-selling novel, Lady in the Lake. Maddie Schwartz, a housewife-turned-investigative journalist, will be the focus of the thriller, which takes place in Baltimore in the 1960s (Portman).
An unsolved murder inspires a housewife who had previously felt dissatisfied in her career as a homemaker to embark on a new career as an investigative journalist. Cleo Sherwood and Maddie Sherwood will cross paths as the jigsaw pieces come together (Ingram). When Cleo isn’t working to maintain her family, she is a devoted mother. Cleo prioritises her family above all else, but she also devotes a large portion of her time to helping Baltimore’s Black progressive movement. As the two women’s worlds collide, they will go on a journey that will alter their course for the rest of their lives. It’s a reunion of sorts for Alma Har’el, who worked with Jupe and Bowers on the Shia LaBeouf-penned Honey Boy, as well as for her and the Honey Boy director.
An executive producer and writer, Har’el collaborate with Bowers, Sheila Wilson and others on the show. Other writers include Vanessa Baden-Kelley, Briana Belser, Nambi Kelley and Boaz Yakin. Har’el and Christopher Leggett, under the banner of the filmmaker’s Zusa, are joined by Portman and her producing partner Sophie Mas, the late Jean-Marc VallĂ©e and Nathan Ross for Crazyrose, Julie Gardner from Bad Wolf, Amy J. Kaufman from POV Entertainment, and Layne Eskridge from POV Entertainment, with Yakin and Lippman joining the executive production team. The project is being backed by Endeavor-Content, which will work with Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America on the production. Lady in the Lake has yet to have a release date announced but check back with Collider for updates as they become available.
