Everyone who loves cute animals, get ready to assemble! The Bond, a four-part miniseries that follows a group of people who create unexpected and unbreakable ties with animals that you don’t generally keep as pets, has been premiered on Discovery+. Produced by Robert Downey Jr., the joyful and inspiring series debuts next week. The teaser for The Bond hints that the series is going to be a lot of fun. It doesn’t take long to find film of adorable animals acting in ways you wouldn’t often witness, such as baby kangaroos, dolphins, cheetahs, and goats.
It also serves as a reminder that taking the time to appreciate what nature has to offer can result in life-altering encounters. It’s hard to believe we’re just at episode four and yet haven’t had enough time to appreciate these creatures’ company: Rae Harvey, a kangaroo sanctuary manager in Australia, is the focus of the first episode. She has developed a close relationship with Kanku. The first episode appears to be the most difficult to watch because Kanku the kangaroo appears to be suffering a health issue. Jojo, a bottlenose dolphin who Jay Sargent built a connection with, will also be featured in the series.
The dolphin has the freedom to explore the entire ocean, yet he chooses to return to Jay time and time again, which is perhaps the most unexpected aspect of their relationship. Episode 3 appears to be the most entertaining, as it follows Cate and Chad Battles as they tour the world with Frankie the goat — and sure, the goat has travelled more than you. Finally, in the fourth episode, we may expect to see some footage of cheetahs acting adorable and cuddly at a sanctuary in South Africa, something we don’t usually see. Desperate measures are taken to save endangered cheetahs and return them to the wild in this episode.
Kiki, a cheetah who recently gave birth to pups and must show her hunting prowess before being released back into the wild, will be the focus of attention. Production credits go to Robert Downey Jr. (director), Susan Downey (writer), and Emily Barclay Ford (production designer). Glen Zipper (Netflix’s Dogs) also writes and produces the show alongside Sean Stuart for discovery+, Kevin Lincoln and Howard Swartz for Discovery Channel. When Don Argott and Sheena Joyce were approached to lead the project, they wanted to create a feel-good series that focused on finding inspiring and unexpected connections in the most unlikely of locations.
The Bond will make its television debut on Discovery+ on July 14th.
