In the new film Money Monster, George Clooney takes on the world of high-stakes investment from an unusual position – as the captive of a guy who lost everything due to faulty stock suggestions. Clooney is no stranger to stressful dramas (and comedies, musicals, and just about every other genre, for that matter). The 1st trailer for the upcoming film, which is directed by Jodie Foster and stars George Clooney as a hotshot television investing guru, has been released by Sony Pictures.
In the film, Clooney’s character finds himself at the mercy of an average guy who lost his family’s savings due to bad stock advice that Clooney’s character gave him. Foster is the director of the upcoming film. Jack O’Connell, who stars in the film Unbroken, plays the role of the film’s hostage-taker. In this role, he seeks to hold Clooney’s character accountable and increase the value of the stock on which his family is dependent.
In addition to Clooney and O’Connell, the film also features Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, who portrays the producer of the investment show that Clooney’s character hosts. O’Connell also appears in the movie. Jamie Linden, who wrote the screenplay for the film We Are Marshall, contributed to the writing of the film’s script. In addition to the trailer, the studio has also published a description for the picture that adds a little bit more background information.
The trailer does a nice job of providing a breakdown of the quick pace of the film as well as the tale that extends beyond a typical hostage scenario. Lee Gates, played by George Clooney, is a bombastic TV personality in the tight and stressful thriller Money Monster. His successful financial network show has made him the money whiz of Wall Street, and he is portrayed as such by Clooney. However, after Gates promotes a high-tech company that unexpectedly drops in price, an angry investor (played by Jack O’Connell) kidnaps Gates, his team, and his star producer Patty Fenn (played by Julia Roberts) while they are live on television.
As events are unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn need to discover a means to stay alive while also getting to the bottom of a web of falsehoods involving large sums of money. Both of these tasks must be accomplished concurrently. Foster is set to direct his fourth full-length feature picture, titled Money Monster, which is planned to be released in theatres on May 13.
