Warner Bros. has revealed that Godzilla vs. Kong’s untitled sequel will be released in theatres in 2024, according to Variety. The next chapter in Legendary’s MonsterVerse has yet to be fully revealed, but with a release date in hand, we can expect to learn more about the next huge beast that Earth’s two greatest defenders will have to battle. Godzilla vs. Kong was released in 2021, while the globe was still healing from the pandemics, and it topped the $100 million mark at the domestic box office.
Warner Bros. immediately grasped the obvious: audiences enjoy watching enormous monsters slug it out on the largest screen imaginable. So, it wasn’t long before Legendary announced that they were working on a follow-up to the first film. Legendary and Warner Bros. have been tight-lipped about their ambitions for the MonsterVerse, although production on the unnamed sequel to Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to begin in Australia this year. So far, all we know is that Dan Stevens, who starred in The Guest, has been cast in an unspecified role in the movie.
Stevens and Adam Wingard, the director of the original Godzilla vs. Kong film, will collaborate again on the sequel. Stevens’ performance in Wingard’s The Guest was similarly praised by critics, who lauded both Wingard and the film’s director. Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla Vs. Kong marked the finale of a string of films that began with 2014’s Godzilla and continued through to 2018. With Kong: Skull Island, Legendary’s MonsterVerse not only introduced the world to a formidable new version of the big reptile. Then, in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Legendary dropped a slew of Titans on Earth, forever altering their view of the cosmos.
Finally, Godzilla vs. Kong pitted the two monarchs head-to-head in a showdown that revealed Godzilla to be the superior kaiju. Finally, the two animals join forces to slay a human-created monster known as “Mechagodzilla” in the film’s spectacular climax However, in the first crossover picture, Godzilla and King Kong fought for control of their own realms. It is not certain if they will do so again in the sequel. This means that King Kong, who has been exiled from his ancestral home of the Hollow Earth, can freely traverse the land of his forefathers.
That human has revered huge monsters for thousands of years before this movie’s events were also hinted at in Godzilla Vs. Kong. In this case, a sequel may look back in time to expand the mythos of the original. Legendary’s MonsterVserse is also working on a Titans TV programme in addition to a Godzilla Vs. Kong sequel. Since Godzilla: King of the Monsters, audiences have been able to glimpse more of the world’s enormous beasts. Godzilla vs. Kong 2: The Next Chapter will be released in theatres on March 15th, 2024, with no official title at this time.
