Bullet Train, which Leitch will direct in 2022, has a stellar cast, a fascinating storyline, and the potential for explosive action. It has all the makings of a super hit smash and the potential to establish a new series. On March 2, 2022, the first official Bullet Train trailer was published. This short serves as an introduction to the major characters and the surrounding environment. The movie’s strongest appeal will undoubtedly be its high-octane action sequences, as shown in the teaser. You can hear it in the video player up above. More details were revealed about the characters in the second trailer, which was published on June 7.
What is it about?
A Japanese bullet train travels from Tokyo to Morioka at great speed with only a few stops in Ktar Isaka’s novel, the inspiration for the movie’s setting. Five assassins are on board the car, each working on a separate mission. They are all related in ways that they are unaware of. After realising the truth, the assassins are forced to battle for their lives in order to uncover the mysteries that await them at their last destination. While the plot doesn’t promise nonstop violence, it does have a John Wick-esque feel to it that lends credence to the notion. Despite the fact that all of Leitch’s films have had an R-rating, Sony may prefer a PG-13 rating so that younger people may join in on the mayhem as well.
The Bullet Train Is Comprised Of… Whom?
In the film, Brad Pitt plays Ladybug, a member of the assassination crew on the film’s titular bullet train. Pitt hasn’t acted since winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, in which he played Cliff Booth. Allied, Robert Zemeckis’ 2016 WWII romantic action-thriller movie in which he co-starred with Marion Cotillard, was Pitt’s last acting role. Pitt also appeared in Deadpool 2 as Vanisher, a member of the X-Force, in a brief cameo role. Another big-budget period piece that Pitt will lead is Damien Chazelle’s big-budget Babylon, which stars Margot Robbie and Jean Smart as well as Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde and Jovan Adepo. In addition, he recently appeared in Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum’s film The Lost City in a cameo role.
There have been several high-profile projects lately added to Pitt’s resume, including a reteaming with Ocean’s Eleven co-stars George Clooney in a thriller helmed by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts, which was bought by Apple following a fierce bidding war. Joey King will play Prince, a fellow assassin, alongside Brad Pitt in Bullet Train. With Netflix’s The Kissing Booth franchise and an Emmy nomination for her portrayal as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu’s True-Crime short series The Act, King has been keeping herself busy recently. The Princess, a 20th Century Fox/Hulu action thriller, and the Netflix teen drama Uglies, directed by McG, are among the several projects King is now working on. Tangerine will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Previously, Johnson has appeared in films like Kick-Ass, Godzilla, Tenet, and Outlaw King, all of which are blockbusters.
Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Supporting Role. Johnson is currently developing many important projects, one of which is the main part in Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off Kraven The Hunter, directed by Triple Frontier filmmaker J.C. Chandor. Johnson will also star in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. The assassin Lemon, played by Brian Tyree Henry, will also appear in the film. With recent performances in Chloe Zhao’s Eternals as MCU’s first openly gay superhero (Phastos), Godzilla Vs. Kong, & The Woman In The Window, Henry has established himself as a sought-after actor. Coming up for Henry are A24’s Red, White, and Water, the Lila Neugebar-penned PTSD thriller that will feature J.Lawrence, and the FX on Hulu short-form series Class of 2009, where he’ll star with Kate Mara. As Paper Boi, he recently appeared in the third season of the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta opposite Donald Glover and LaKeith Stanfield. Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock joins the Bullet Train cast in a part that was originally written for Lady Gaga.
This will mark Bullock’s second collaboration with Pitt after the previously mentioned The Lost City. After playing Domino in Deadpool 2, Zazie Beetz will join the picture as Hornet, making this her second collaboration with Leitch. Andrew Koji, who portrayed Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe reboot/spin-off Snake Eyes, is also in the picture as Kimura, completing his transition into American blockbusters after playing Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes. Among the film’s remarkable cast are Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Bad Bunny, Masi Oka, Hiroyuki Sanada, Karen Fukuhara, Pasha D. Lychnikoff, and Miraj Grbic.
When will the Bullet Train movie be released?
Bullet Train will premiere in theatres on August 5, 2022, opposite A24’s horror feature Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and Jo Koy’s comedy Easter Sunday. In March 2022, the release date of the film was pushed back from July 15 to July 29, 2022, and then to the present date.
