Hajime Kashimo’s fight against Hakari has been eagerly anticipated by Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 187’s fans. It is possible, however, that Akutami prefers to focus on Kashimo and Kenjaku’s relationship by way of flashbacks. Gege Akutami, who had taken a break, returned to discuss Hakari’s Domain Expansion and the various ways in which a Jackpot can be obtained. However, the raw scans of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 187 show that Kashimo is one of the Culling Game’s strongest players and will not be intimidated.
Spoilers for Chapter 187 of Jujutsu Kaisen
It was revealed in the previous chapter that Hakari’s Jackpot provides him with Infinite Cursed Energy, which heals all bodily wounds and replenishes his Cursed Energy and Technique. This was revealed in the last chapter. As long as he keeps hitting jackpots, he can cast infinite Domain Expansions. Four minutes and eleven seconds are allotted for this. Hakari had no trouble defeating Kashimo, who was unable to use his Cursed Energy or sure-hit techniques against him. Ending the chapter, Hakari cast his Domain once more.
Chapter 187 of Jujutsu Kaisen begins with Kashimo learning the rules of Hakari’s Domain, according to the raw scans. When compared to Charles, however, Kashimo attacks Hakari while he’s still forming a setting, but the attack is unsuccessful. For the second time in four minutes and eleven seconds, Hakari draws a jackpot by matching three numbers (in this case, a 666). Despite knowing they have only four minutes and eleven seconds left, Kashimo is determined to end Hakari’s life.
In the flashback, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 187 shifts back 400 years. After a battle, Kenjaku can be seen approaching an elderly Kashimo.
According to the spoiler, Kenjaku’s own body is unfit for combat in this era. In spite of this, he tells Kashimo of a powerful sorcerer from Mutsu (present-day Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture) who uses a canon-like technique to fight. Rather than accept his offer, Kashimo asks Kenjaku about the most powerful Sorcerer he knows. It’s Sukuna, but Kenjaku tells him that he’s been gone for 600 years. Kashimo accepts Kenjaku’s offer because he hopes to face Sukuna at some point in the future.
Speculations
Sorcerers who have been reincarnated in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 187 were all alive at the same time, according to spoilers. Sendai’s cannon-wielding sorcerer, Ryu Ishigori, was unmistakable. This suggests Kashimo was on a mission to fight the strongest at one point in time, as Kenjaku has offered him up. If that was their own volition or because of the deal they struck with Kenjaku, it’s not clear what the outcome was.
The fact that Kenjaku’s body was unfit for combat indicates that it was either ill or incapable of jujutsu. Although the frequency of Kenjaku’s body-swapping is still unknown, it is obvious that an ideal body is not always available. They were at least biologically male, as shown in the raw scans of Chapter 187 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Either way, Kenjaku initiated and then sustained Kashimo’s interest in Sukuna.
The latest jackpot hit by Hakari indicates an even more difficult battle lies ahead. The fact that Kashimo is so enthused about killing Hakari suggests that they believe they have the wherewithal to do so even if they are inside the Domain. No one knows what Kashimo’s secret weapon is yet.
