One of the main issues in the current My Hero Academia arc was that of AFO’s defeat, & My Hero Academia chapter 355 is all ready to present the fans with the first light of optimism. The spoilers that were posted earlier today mention that despite facing up against overwhelming power, Hawks and the two Class-A pupils managed to chip away at AFO’s amazing armour a little. Of course, AFO cannot be beaten that easy, but this chapter does afford a little relief. More information regarding how AFO’s quirk works are disclosed in My Hero Academia chapter 355, and they show a remarkable similarity to how OFA operates.
My Hero Academia chapter 355 (spoilers)
In the last chapter, Hawks & Endeavor went up against AFO in Gunga Mountains. AFO partially divulged what occurred to Toya after Sekoto Peak and baited Endeavor into making a mistake. After hurting Endeavor, AFO focused his eyes on Hawks, but his strikes were thwarted by Jiro and Tokoyami, who arrived on time. Together, they squared up against AFO.
According to the spoilers, Endeavor is not gravely hurt, nor has he lost his arm. He acknowledges his error in letting AFO goad him and is frightened about his boys. Nevertheless, his condition is stable enough for the Hawks to proceed on with the strategy. Tokoyami tells his mentor that he is here to give air support, thus he cannot remain out of the conflict. AFO understands that the heroes would start assaulting once Endeavor returns to the conflict. To hurry things up, he targets Jirou with one of his new moves, but Hawks deflects it. He hits AFO’s mask with his feathers and sword again but to no avail.
Jirou is afraid when Tokoyami spells out their purpose to her, and she knows that Midoriya and Aoyama must cope with such emotions of powerlessness all the time. AFO assaults them again, and Hawks is powerless to stop him this time. Jirou’s left ear is badly wounded, yet she still strikes AFO with her Heartbeat Surround Legato. AFO goes to retaliate but is held back by the traces of all the idiosyncrasies he has taken over the years. Hawks find a chip in AFO’s mask from his earlier attacks and punches him again. This rapid blow fractures both Hawks’ sword and a chunk of AFO’s mask.
Speculations
While confirmed to be in a stable state in My Hero Academia chapter 355, Endeavor is scarcely suited for combat against AFO. However, his concern for his boys and his remorse at letting his companions down may lead him into a more perilous course of action. He remains the heroes’ major source of firepower and, as such, will have to return to the combat unless there is some external support. It is noteworthy that AFO’s remnants function in the same manner as OFA.
While readers had received a taste of this back during Shigaraki’s showdown with Star and Stripe, it has never been fully portrayed as in My Hero Academia chapter 355. Considering that AFO has uncountable idiosyncrasies inside him, it would mean doom for him if even a few of those traces sought to follow in Cathleen Bate’s footsteps. Tokoyami is largely a supporting character in this match, but Jirou and Hawks seem to be making up for it.
Jirou has been surprising throughout this fight, and the application of her quirk looks to be well-thought-out and accurate. However, readers would still want to witness Dark Shadow in action. Hawks is fulfilling his tasks with dedication, but he appears much too willing to give up his own life for the cause, a characteristic Tokoyami seems desperate to suppress.
