Chapter 254 Summary and Analysis
Takemichi is experiencing yet another vision as he clings to a portion of the train tracks. There, he witnesses the train travelling at its maximum speed just before it derails and becomes out of control. People start running away as some of the freight cars start flying all over the place, and they are trying to avoid getting crushed. On the other hand, not everyone was able to escape in the nick of time. Mitsuya, Chifuyu, and Hakkai were all crushed to death when the boulder fell. When Sanzu finally appears, he explains that because they were driving him crazy, he chose to eliminate all of them at once.
Takemichi loses his mind and immediately begins to flee. Takemichi tells Kakucho to stop following him after the latter begins to chase after the former. Takemichi has a strong suspicion that the vision has already started, so he has made his way to the terminus of the train tracks. Takemichi is still being pursued by Kakucho, and he is pleading with him to let him go. Takemichi is apprehended by Kakucho, who orders him to reveal the situation to him immediately. Takemichi orders him to move and assures him that he will not let anyone else pass away. The shift in demeanour displayed by Takemichi has caught Kakucho off guard.
While this is going on, Sanzu is attempting to determine how to get the train moving again. However, Takemichi and Kakucho appear just as he is about to do something seriously damaging to the situation. Sanzu is taken aback to see them there, and Kakucho is equally taken aback by the realisation that what Takemichi said was accurate. Takemichi reveals to Sanzu that he is aware of his intentions. Takemichi has been challenged by Sanzu, and Kakucho has offered his assistance. He claims that in the meantime, they have decided to call a truce in the conflict.
