Sadly, the One Piece manga series was on a vacation last week and did not come out on May 1st since many fans would have been left out of the action. A big plus here is that there are no more teases, as the whole monthly Shonen Jump magazine took a vacation last week to celebrate Japan’s Golden Week. From April 29th to May 6th, Japan celebrates its annual Golden Week, which is one of the busiest times of the year.

Shown Day (the late Emperor Showa’s birthday), Constitutional Memorial Day (a commemoration of the inauguration of the postwar constitution), Greenery Day (a celebration of nature and the environment), and Children’s Day are all observed within the Golden Week ( praying for the health of all children).
Several companies, notably the manga industry and in particular its publishers in weekly Shonen Jump, shut down and give their staff time off to participate in the festivities as part of the Golden Week celebrations. Fortunately, the One Piece manga announcement will not be affected by the Golden Week pause for long. One Piece Chapter 1048 will be published on Sunday, May 8th, 2022, according to the series’ official page on Viz Media.
