By the Project No. 9 studio, Love After World Domination is a lighthearted romantic comedy animation. Fudou is the commander of the Freezing Gelato 5 and the Red Gelato. Along with the other Gelatos, Fudou guards mankind against evil groups such as Gekko, which desire to rule the globe. Fudou, on the other hand, is enamoured by Desumi (the Reaper Princess), a new agent recruited by Gekko. But in Love After Planet Domination Episode 1, can two individuals who must fight against each other for the fate of the world still manage to be in love without anybody knowing?
In Love After World Domination, the wacky escapades and over-the-top emotional moments that one would expect given the narrative premise are delivered by the key ingredients. On their first dates, two clumsy individuals who are considerably more at ease executing explosive super moves on the battlefield make a mess of things, returning to hitting each other if anyone is watching. Love After World Domination Episode 1 has a somewhat predictable plot, but there are a few notable moments that indicate promise for the series’ writing in the future. Particularly amusing was Fudou’s “permission” from Professor Gelato to ask Desumi out.
I’m most concerned about the show’s lead actors, and that’s about all I’m worried about for its premiere. A number of times, the awkward novice pair joke is played a little too far. On their third date, Desumi panics about touching Fudou’s hand since she wears Emma Frost’s Hellfire Club outfits on a daily basis. Even for humorous reasons, this is ridiculous. Not helping matters is the fact that this programme debuts just a few weeks after My Dress-up Darling concluded its season. A programme that was able to perfectly mix the uncomfortable and adorable aspects of its unfortunate romantic duo with a light touch.
It’s to be hoped that this show would help the actors overcome their extreme shyness and enable them to make eye contact without flinching. Its lead couple is surrounded by a milieu that is well suited to this strange drama of forbidden love. Super Sentai is clearly influenced by this new series. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was based on this show. Over-the-top characters, wacky plot twists and over-the-top action all feature prominently in this episode’s fight scenes.
It’s much simpler for Fudou to overlook his girlfriend’s involvement in aiding a bad organisation because of the world’s off-kilter tone. Slapstick humour permeates every aspect of the series’ visual style. The Gelatos’ change animations were flawless, and I really enjoyed the demonic, gigantic teddy bear that appeared during one encounter.
Overall, Love After Premise Domination Episode 1 does a good job of setting up the world and characters in this new series. In order to have a successful comic experience, this film has to achieve the right balance between charming and irritating. On Crunchyroll, you can watch the first episode of Love After World Domination right now.
