Among those who participated in the round were Bitkraft Ventures and MTG, as well as 1Up Ventures and Level Up. Legendary Play has also formed a partnership with ESL to create virtual copies of the latter’s esports events while maintaining the authenticity of the games. It also intends to bring in well-known esports teams, athletes, and influencers to all of its games in the future.
For its latest initiative, a series of mobile games aimed at esports fans, Legendary Play has revealed that it has raised $4 million in funding from investors. It has already released its first title, Rivals, and plans to release more in the future. Legendary Play’s existing mobile title, Rivals Esports MOBA Manager, is presently available for download on Google Play and the App Store, respectively. The company intends to produce other games in order to recreate the complete esports experience. Its next game will be a co-op role-playing game about being a professional esports player.
As stated in a press release by Roman Frank (CEO of Legendary Play), by 2026 there will be 970 million esports fans globally, with 70 per cent of those fans participating in mobile games. We are developing mobile games that allow fans who are already involved to continue to live their passion in a more informal context.
Despite the fact that we have started with manager games, our long-term ambition is to develop a comprehensive portfolio of esport-themed games that will include casual games, role-playing games, and story adventure games. “By designing mobile games that appeal to the full community of esports fans globally, Legendary Play is tapping into a passionate yet underserved industry,” said Jens Hilgers, founding general partner of Bitkraft. “With the success of RIVALS, the team has set a great foundation, and I’m looking forward to seeing them bring their additional titles in the pipeline to life as they continue to cater to the requirements of esports enthusiasts.”
