ONE, the brains behind the popular Japanese superhero series, came up with the concept for the One-Punch Man. After becoming tired of his lack of challenges, Saitama is on a quest to find a suitable adversary to confront him once and for all. The first webcomic was launched by ONE in early 2009. Tonari No Young Jump’s Shueisha website launched a digital manga remake in June 2012. It has 23 volumes as of January 2021, illustrated by Yusuke Murata. Restored manga is now available in Viz Media’s digital weekly “Shonen Jump” for the English-speaking North American market.
When Saitama is not being a hero, he enjoys an unusual and modest hobby: being a superhero. He trained for three years without a break, losing his hair in the process, in order to realise his boyhood dream. No one can stand a chance against Saitama now that he’s developed superhuman strength. For the first time in his life, he’s no longer enjoying the process of fighting evildoers since it’s become tedious and repetitive. Saitama is intrigued by Genos, a 19-year-old cyberneticist who emerges and shows promise. Saitama instantly accepts Genos’ proposal to join the Heroes’ Association in order to get Hero status.
As a result, the storey of One Punch Guy opens with a man trying to rediscover his youthful zest for fighting and, possibly, to regain his former fame.
