Yasuhisa Hara is the author of the manga series The Japanese Kingdom, which is set in Japan. The Warring States are fictionally depicted over a 500-year span in the manga, chiefly via the exploits of War Orphan Xin and his comrades as they vie for control of the biggest territory beneath the sky. Since January 2006, the comic has featured once a week in Shueisha’s Young Jump, a manga magazine produced by Shueisha, and has been translated into English.
Studio Pierrot has been adapting the storey into an anime television series for the last three seasons. During the first season, which ran from June 2012 to February 2013, there were a total of 38 episodes. A total of 39 episodes were broadcast between June 2013 and March 2014, making up the second season. It is planned to broadcast the third season of Studio Signpost and Pierrot in April 2020.
