This week, Rockstar has published a huge update for their controversial remaster trilogy, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition. GTA III: Remastered will be receiving fresh new updates starting this week across all platforms to address the game’s myriad faults and assure that it is no longer in the broken state it was in during its tragic debut, as Rockstar Games just stated. Grand Theft Auto 3 remaster, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City remaster and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remaster were all released in November across consoles and PC, letting gamers relive the PS2 period classics on contemporary platforms with graphic updates and gameplay improvements.
Dejected gamers took to social media after GTA: The Trilogy remasters original release to criticise the game’s numerous problems and inconsistencies as well as a lack of polish that made it nearly unplayable. GTA 3’s PC version was taken down after the Rockstar Launcher ceased working shortly after its debut. This angered many fans, especially those who wanted refunds for the temporarily unavailable titles. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy–The Definitive Edition has been updated to version 1.04 by Rockstar, which addresses many of the remaster’s issues and significantly enhances each of the three games.
On Rockstar’s Support website, you can see the full changelog for all three games, which includes improvements to loading times, visuals, textures, FPS, stability, resolution, and patches for bugs and glitches that have been plaguing them for some time. With the most recent version, several issues have been resolved, including rain appearing inside cutscenes in San Andreas and the camera glitch in both Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City. As promised, Rockstar Games has restored back old versions of the GTA Trilogy to the Rockstar Launcher, as well as addressing more of the remastered collection’s flaws.
Despite this, new difficulties arose surrounding the tarnished title and its ongoing challenges. The GTA remaster creators Grove Street Games and Rockstar Games appear to still have a lot of work to do, but this latest patch might set the trilogy on a positive road going forward. It’s no secret that Rockstar’s GTA trilogy remake has been plagued by problems and inconsistencies since its catastrophic debut, but the latest 1.0.4 update looks to have sped things up significantly. Many of the game’s problems are being addressed in the game’s ongoing updates, so it’s safe to conclude that the game will eventually live up to its original promise.
