One of the most impressive first-generation Pokémon figurines ever created

An avid Pokémon enthusiast has put together a trophy that includes all of the series’ first-generation Pokémon. Pokémon Red and Green, launched in Japan for the Game Boy in 1996, marked the beginning of the first generation of Pokémon. In North America, the games were renamed Pokémon Red and Blue when they were published in 1998. Pokémon Yellow, which is based partially on the popular anime, was also published as an improved edition.

The fictitious Kanto area was the setting for the first 151 Pokémon in the franchise, all of which debuted in the first generation. New games and other media for the Pokémon series have led to massive growth in the number of Pokémon. National Pokédex has a current count of 898 Pokémon, which does not include the additional species and regional varieties introduced in the recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This does not include any of the various regional variations of particular Pokémon or other species’ variants or evolutions.

The newest generation of Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet, was just announced earlier today, which means the brand will soon be home to even more Pokémon. In the gaming section, Reddit user jerzku posted a picture of their Pokémon trophy. All 151 Pokémon from the first generation are represented on the trophy, which is positioned from bottom to top roughly according to their given Pokédex numbers. As a result, the three starter Pokémon and their corresponding evolutions from that generation can be seen at the bottom of the trophy, while Mew and Mewtwo sit atop.

To build the stunning statue, jerzku says they used 3D models from the Pokémon games as a starting point, then used digital sculpting software to pose and improve each model before printing and glueing it all together. They stated they opted to print the individual Pokémon with colour-changing gold and silver filament so that they wouldn’t have to paint them all. Pikachu and Jynx, two of the most iconic Gen 1 Pokémon, have undergone major reimaginings since their first debut in 1996 in Pokémon Red and Green, but the rest of the first generation’s Pokémon has remained largely unchanged.

Despite the fact that the number of Pokémon has increased dramatically, many fans of the series still favour those from the first generation. The trophy designed by jerzku is outstanding not only because of its appearance but also because of the craftsmanship that went into it. It’s truly remarkable what fans can do now that 3D printing and other production processes are so easily available.
