Thor’s gladiator outfit from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarök has been added to Marvel’s Avengers’ collection of MCU-based character skins. On Sakaar, where the God of Thunder is impotent and marooned, he is forced into gladiator-style combat by the evil Grandmaster in Taika Waititi’s third part of Thor’s solo big-screen trilogy. As Thor prepares to recapture Asgard from his sister the death goddess Helga, the Hulk takes on the powerless god and pummels him to death. Aside from being playable as the main characters, Thor and Hulk have a large range of other costumes to choose from, based on the many outfits that the Avengers have worn in comic books and movies.
This includes skins for Captain America’s WWII armour from Captain America: The First Avenger and the espionage costumes of Black Widow and Spider-Man from Spider-Man: Far From Home. ‘The MCU has been incredibly popular,’ says Crystal Dynamics. Many MCU skins are still being requested by Marvel’s Avengers fans, including Kate Bishop’s Ronan outfit from the most recent Hawkeye Disney+ series and other popular MCU characters. Thor’s gladiator attire from Thor: Ragnarök will be available for purchase in Marvel’s Avengers Marketplace on February 17th, according to a tweet from the game’s creators.
Short-chopped hair, a black leather suit with a crimson cape, light blue armour on his right leg and left shoulder, and battle paint on the left side of his face are all aspects of the Thor: Ragnarök costume. There is also a Marvel’s Avengers post with the words “[h]e’s a friend from work,” which Thor gleefully proclaims to the Hulk during Thor Ragnarök’s gladiator arena scene when they first meet. Since Marvel’s Avengers was initially released in 2020, Crystal Dynamics has added a slew of additional skins based on the MCU. Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther are all playable characters in at least three DLC narrative extensions that have been released.
By unlocking cutscenes and audio recordings from missions, players were able to learn about Spider-narrative Man’s in the fourth DLC character for Marvel’s Avengers. Crystal Dynamics has promised a comprehensive roadmap of DLC content for 2022, and leaks have claimed new Avengers characters like Shuri or Iron Heart would be joining the team.
Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War players have even submitted their own ideas for future downloadable content, including visits by Ultron and the Winter Soldier. Since Thor: Ragnarök’s look is so beloved by MCU fans, it’s an excellent pick for the next unlocked variant skin for the character in Marvel’s Avengers. Marvel’s Avengers presents players with a wide variety of costumes from the books and movies to choose from as they wait to see which new heroes join the team in 2022.
