Rumor Has It That Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Will Be Released at the Same Time

An industry insider claims that Warzone 2 will be included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. After Vanguard’s lacklustre debut, the Call of Duty series is in a state of flux, but a new game is on the way later this year, as is customary. Rumours claim that Modern Warfare 2 will be the game for this year, but this has yet to be formally verified. Perhaps not the only new Call of Duty product to be released this year. Although Warzone 2 was recently reported to be under production and due for release at some unspecified point in the future by Bloomberg, nothing else is known about it.

There has been some speculation that the initial Warzone wasn’t created with long-term sustainability in mind, given its quick success. As a result, a sequel might fix many of the game’s fundamental issues and allow for a truly live service platform without major interruption. Activision is expected to announce Warzone 2 in the next few days, and it will be featured in Modern Warfare 2, according to Tom Henderson, an insider.

Although it isn’t obvious if it will be released at the same time as the game, or if it will be released in early 2023 as the first Warzone was, it does indicate that it is closer than previously thought. Developer Infinity Ward recently announced the release of Call of Duty 2022, so this might potentially feature information about that game. Activision generally unveils their Call of Duty games in the summer, so the news may focus more on Warzone 2 and its wider goals.

However, a complete trailer or major information on Modern Warfare 2 is unlikely to be released until much later. Since Call of Duty: Vanguard was released just four months ago, Activision would be startling if they suddenly abandoned it. It’ll be fascinating to watch whether Activision tries to attach its current titles to battle royale again after things went awry with Warzone’s Black Ops Cold War integration.

It’s tough to understand how Modern Warfare 2 might be connected to Warzone 2, given that it’s said to contain drug cartels and a more personal narrative. Even if a new version of the game stands on its own, it is something that fans will have to wait to learn more about until further notice. Warzone 2 appears to be on the horizon at the moment.
