A flaw in Batman: Arkham Knight that allows Robin to unleash the Star Wars Force against Gotham City’s villains was recently uncovered. 2015’s Arkham Knight is Rocksteady’s final chapter in their critically-acclaimed Batman series, pitting the Dark Knight against a nefarious squad that includes The Scarecrow and the eponymous Arkham Knight.
The narrative of Arkham Knight may not have been as well-received as earlier games like Batman: Arkham City, but many fans appreciated the opportunity it provided to emphasise Batman’s various sidekicks and allies. Batman: Arkham City’s Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC also features Tim Drake/Robin, who featured in a brief appearance in 2011’s Batman: Arkham City. In Arkham Knight, players can temporarily control Tim Drake as he aids Batman in hunting down people affected by the Joker’s insane blood.
Drake has a problematic connection with fellow crimefighter Barbara Gordon, alias Oracle. Rocksteady’s video game adaptation of the legendary Dynamic Duo featured both of its members, and veteran comic book readers may have spotted a few subtle AI touches that showed how Robin was still learning from Batman when Arkham Knight came out. A bug discovered by Reddit user pranklimulator suggests that Robin has learned a few tactics from the Mark Hamill-voiced Joker. Two gameplay snippets from Batman: Arkham Knight, showing Robin slipping across a stealth-based Predator Challenge area, have been shared to the BatmanArkham subreddit (via Game Rant).
One of Arkham Knight’s remote-controlled turrets is about to be disarmed when the Boy Wonder begins to pull it apart, but this causes a sneak takedown on a nearby guard. When a Force-sensitive figure like Darth Vader performs the Force Choke, the hired goon bends over backwards in a choking fit. Gotham Knights, a new game from Batman: Arkham Origins that will serve as a relaunch of the Batman: Arkham narrative, will have Tim Drake returning as Robin. Players will assume the roles of Bruce Wayne’s erstwhile allies Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin as they band together to protect Gotham City against the enigmatic Court of Owls, in a setting reminiscent of the conclusion to Batman: Arkham Knight.
With the inclusion of a two-player Gotham Knights co-op option, pals may join forces against famous comic book villains like The Penguin and Mr. Freeze in Gotham Knights, just as in Rocksteady’s Arkham series. While it’s unlikely that Robin will be able to use the Force against his foes in Gotham Knights, it’s fun to see Tim perform a Star Wars manoeuvre in Batman: Arkham Knight. No one knows if this bug simply affects Robin or if other playable characters like Catwoman, Azrael, or even Batman himself may utilise it, but it appears like the Force is with the Gotham City’s defenders in this battle.
