The renowned Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett has made his way to the Old West thanks to a committed Red Dead Online gamer. As Red Dead Redemption II’s online component continues to receive less attention from developer Rockstar, it has recently become the focus of debate. Red Dead Online users have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the game’s developer’s lack of attention. At first look, Star Wars appears to have little in common with Westerns, yet this is not the case. The Mandalorian, a popular programme on Disney+, is a good example of how many of the genre’s cliches have emerged in Star Wars over the years.
As a result, it’s only natural that western intellectual properties like Red Dead Redemption, and especially Red Dead Online, would incorporate Star Wars references into their gameplay. In a recent Reddit AMA, user Flemboi-schmuck made their character in Red Dead Online appear like Boba Fett. Even if the re-creation of the notorious bounty hunter’s face is remarkably accurate, it goes beyond that with the absence of the helmet.
Flemboi-schmuck looks to be putting together the closest possible costume to that of The Book of Boba Fett’s Boba Fett persona. Characters created by players using Red Dead Online’s character builder can be highly detailed, thanks to the game’s high level of customizability. The lack of attention the game has received from Rockstar has certainly contributed to the growing uproar from fans who are dissatisfied.
Making matters worse, instead of promoting Red Dead Online, which has been out for three years, the creators are focusing on GTA Online, which has been around for eight years. Rockstar’s online western has a dedicated fan base, but one that isn’t as large as that of its modern-day version. Creating characters in the likeness of Flemboi-Boba schmuck’s Fett shows that there is still a yearning for additional adventures in the universe of Red Dead Online. There is no way of knowing whether the fans can persuade Rockstar that the western title needs more ongoing content like GTA Online or if this is the final gasp of a sadly fading title. This is the procedure, whatever the outcome may be.
