One-Punch Man debuted on the anime market several years ago, and its first season is still considered a classic among superhero fans. Saitama and Genos amassed an army in a matter of episodes, but their screen presence has declined afterwards. A lacklustre second season soured much of the fandom, but now the community is uniting to demand a better future for the programme. The campaign originated on Reddit and quickly spread to platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr.
It was there that fans of the webcomic and manga bemoaned the end of season two and pleaded for the resurrection of One-Punch Man with a fresh animation studio at the helm. “Personally, I prefer Studio Bones! This is the same crew that is responsible for Mob Psycho 100. They are familiar with and enthusiastic about ONE’s works, they collaborate well with ONE, they are technically extremely inventive, and when they want to, they perform incredible action with crisp, crisp, sharp choreography “As said by user gofancyninjaworld.
Another commenter responded to Ferdz’s writing, “I’ve stated this previously as well. I believe that would be fantastic because Bones is currently filming the final season of Mob. Taking on [One-Punch Man] with ONE would truly complete the circle. I’d be delighted to see Studio Bones take over!”
For those unfamiliar, One-Punch Man originated at Madhouse. The recording studio The studio hired Shingo Natsume to direct, and the renowned artist used his connections to assemble an amazing lineup of animators. This helped season one flourish in the face of stiff competition, but a lengthy hiatus prevented Madhouse from managing season two.
J.C. Staff directed the anime’s most recent instalment, and the studio failed to impress on every level. From writing to animation, fans grieved One-Punch Man’s demise as J.C. Staff lacked the resources necessary to do Saitama credit. Since the conclusion of season two in July 2019, there has been no word about a third season, and fans have all but given up hope considering the show’s previous reception. However, if studios such as Bones or MAPPA have the personnel to take on the IP, the fandom will gladly show them their support!
