World Trigger is an anime adaptation of Daisuke Ashihara’s Japanese manga. In 2014, Toei Animation released the first season of World Trigger, which consisted of approximately 70 episodes. The season was well-received by the public, and it concluded in 2016. The series was then revived by the studio in 2021 for two more seasons, with the original actors repeating their roles. However, after 14 fantastic episodes, the third season has also come to an end.
The final episode of World Trigger Season 3 was recently released after a one-week delay. Anime fans are now wondering if Toei Animation intends to revive the series for a fourth season. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Will there be a fourth season of World Trigger?
Toei Animation had not yet officially announced Season 4 of the World Trigger anime at the time of writing this essay. However, there’s a strong possibility that the Japanese animation will be renewed for a second season.
The third season of World Trigger, like the previous two, was warmly welcomed by anime enthusiasts. Season 3 is, in fact, the best season of the show so far, according to some fans. Toei Animation had planned to produce a second season of World Trigger but instead decided to go with a whole new season of World Trigger (Via: Monster and Critics). However, things worked out well for the studio, as the new season presently has an 8.22/10 rating on the Anime list, based on over 10,000 votes.
Toei Animation would be stupid to abandon the series after only three seasons, in my opinion.
Moreover, according to various rumours, Season 3 adapted the tale to Volume 22 of the manga. World Trigger has been released in 24 volumes so far, so the studio has enough material to give us another season of the anime series.
Is there a World Trigger Season 4 release date?
Of course, we’ll have to wait for formal confirmation from Toei before we know when the second season will be released. If the studio decides to bring the show back, a new season could debut by the end of 2022 or the first half of 2023.
Only a few months after finishing Season 2, the studio launched the third season of World Trigger. So, if the next season’s episode count stays under 15, the company may be able to bring the show back to us in less than a year.
