In a curious incident, a Grand Theft Auto Online player exploring Los Santos came upon an odd bug that resulted in the Loch Ness Monster spawning in the Diamond Casino’s parking lot. Glitches, like easter eggs, are a defining feature of Rockstar Games’ history, and they became widely famous with the studio’s first innovative sandbox release, Grand Theft Auto III.
While most bugs provide a comedic element to Grand Theft Auto games, several flaws have caused a variety of issues for players, particularly in Grand Theft Auto Online, ranging from insurmountable missions to the disappearance of precious things. Despite the fact that it was released nearly a decade ago, Rockstar’s critically acclaimed open-world sandbox is perhaps the studio’s biggest and most popular product to date.
Though the original game hasn’t been altered or revamped since its most recent rerelease in 2014, the game’s online multiplayer mode has seen substantial updates since 2015 that add new content and features, and they continue to develop the game well beyond its lifetime. Grand Theft Auto V will be rereleased on current-gen consoles for the second time in March, almost a decade after its initial release, due to its large user base and sustained commercial success.
Players on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be able to play the Expanded & Enhanced Edition of the game, which has improved aesthetics and gameplay changes, as well as a slew of additional new features that set the current gen to remaster apart from previous versions. A screenshot of what seems to be the Loch Ness Monster in the parking lot of the Diamond Casino was shared on Reddit by user Herbzi Leaf. While this is probably certainly a malfunction, the monster’s entire model appears to be floating out of place.
The Loch Ness Monster easter egg was included in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of The Cayo Perico Heist update, and it can only be seen momentarily at the heist’s finale or while attempting to flee by boat. The sea monster’s model is extremely difficult to see in full in its intended environment, as it dives underwater swiftly when approached and can’t be fully accessed until the game is tinkered with. The Cayo Perico Heist upgrade, which was released in 2020, is one of Grand Theft Auto Online’s greatest content expansions.
Aside from the largest robbery in the game’s history, the update also included a whole new private island, a new area for players to explore, and a slew of new features including submarine HQs and the Music Locker nightclub to delight and excite fans. While it’s amusing to observe, the Loch Ness Monster’s idle model spawning in Los Santos is most likely due to a server error during the map transfer. More faults are likely to appear as Grand Theft Auto Online expands, so gamers may expect more random happenings when exploring Los Santos.
