Season 4 of Attack on Titan comes to an end with the release of Part 2. The anime series, based on the widely famous manga by Hajime Isayama, has gone beyond cult status and become a global sensation. Now that the manga has come to a close, it’s time to enjoy this ‘end of an era’ event on the big screen. In this section, you’ll learn more about how and when to watch the last season of this phenomenon, as well as the controversies that surrounded it.
It has been a shady past.
The story of Attack on Titan has become a fable in its own right. In a post-apocalyptic future, mankind is chased to the brink of extinction by giants known as titans. Eren Yaeger is the protagonist of the manga, which was serialised in 2009. The last of the human race has taken refuge behind three circular fortifications. When a wall is breached at the beginning of the narrative, Eren’s mother is slain and devoured.
Eren is on a bloody rampage after escaping with his life. He joins the Survey Corps, an organisation tasked with eradicating this grave risk. This battle to the death may be Eren’s best chance yet to unleash his secret weapon: the power to turn into a titan & use it to his advantage.
Survey Corps traitors are uncovered over the course of seasons, and humans and titans learn more about each other and try to use that information to their advantage. It’s just a matter of time before the narrative reaches its peak.

The Attack on Titan legacy
Attack on Titan’s last episode leaves us in a peculiar position: we know how it will finish. The manga, which lasted the whole decade of the 2010s, came to an end in April of the next year. As of this writing, more than 100 million copies have been sold, making it one of the most popular manga ever.
This does not imply, however, that it has been widely accepted or that it has been free of criticism. Attack on Titan’s themes has been linked to fascism, racial conspiracy theories, and real-life calls for Japan’s remilitarization, according to certain critical analyses (such as those in Polygon and Vice).
The subject of how to connect with manga and later anime on an artistic and philosophical level is significant in light of manga’s immense appeal and following anime. When asked about the dispute, Isayama told The New Republic that he thought it was “impolite” to advise his audience how to view his work.
Despite the fact that there are several possible interpretations of such a monumental cultural event, one thing is certain: a large audience will be watching. Will MAPPA follow the manga’s lead, or will it have a few surprises up its sleeve? Time will tell if this is true or not.
