In the year 2021, South Korean entertainment has witnessed unprecedented growth in popularity, thanks to the mainstream media. While international knowledge of K-pop and K-dramas continues to grow, one of the most popular routes for Korean material has been the light novels and Webtoons generated in the country, which have become increasingly popular.
Solo Leveling is perhaps the most popular Webtoon series to come out of South Korea, but will chapter 180 be released this week, or will the tale come to a close at the end of this month?
IS SOLO LEVELING CHAPTER 180 SET TO BE RELEASED THIS WEEK OR NEITHER?
Unfortunately, Solo Leveling Chapter 180 will not be released this week, next week, or at all in the foreseeable future…
Due to the fact that chapter 179 served as the final episode of the Solo Leveling series, and D&C Webtoon confirmed the conclusion of Jin-narrative Woo’s last week, this is the case.
Originally published as a web book in November 2016, Solo Leveling has already reached its thirteenth volume, with the English edition, titled ‘Only I level up,’ continuing to be updated until 2019.
Although Solo Leveling began serialisation in 2018, it was the excellent Webtoon run that truly confirmed it as one of the biggest series in the world, with more than 412,000 people reading it on Kakao when it began serialisation in 2018.
WILL SOLO LEVELING MAKE A RETURN AT ANY POINT?
While many fans are disappointed by the closure of Solo Leveling, many are also aware that there are plenty of potentials for the series to continue with a spin-off following the events of the main storyline.
It is not only possible to level up in the larger world of Solo Leveling, but there is also a remarkable amount of ‘lore’ for the universe as a whole to learn about.
The existence of a spin-off project by either Chugong or D&C Media has not been confirmed at this time; nevertheless, the global success of Solo Leveling will almost surely push those involved to consider a continuation.
Was there a possibility that the series may expand to other countries by portraying the backstories of the world’s most formidable hunters? I believe that aside from narrative about Thomas Andre (USA), Lui Zhigagang (China), or Goto Ryuji (Japan) might be readily developed, but what do you think about it?
SUSPICIONS OF AN ANIME ADAPTATION…
The series finale of Solo Leveling aired last week, and as fans were absorbing the episode, rumours began spreading on social media that an anime adaptation had been confirmed.
‘THE BOYZ’ had released a brand-new original soundtrack for the series, which caused some consternation among fans.
The news was made only a few minutes after the last chapter was published, and it was accompanied by a little teaser video for the next song.
The new OST is scheduled to be released in February 2022, and it is intended to coincide with the announcement of the final physical volume’s availability in South Korea.
At the time of this writing, there is no official confirmation of an anime adaptation of Solo Leveling, despite reports to the contrary.
