Bowser Jr. has been introduced as a playable character in Mario Party Superstars thanks to a new mod. Only a few months ago, the second entry in the Mario Party series for Nintendo Switch was launched. Mario Party Superstars features 100 mini-games from previous iterations as well as five rebuilt boards from the Nintendo 64 trilogy, paying respect to previous chapters in the franchise.
Bowser Jr. is the son of Bowser, the villainous king of the Koopas and the Mario Party series’ main nemesis. Junior has been a playable character in prior Mario Party games, however he has joined his father in disturbing players in earlier instalments of the series. Bowser Jr. is not available as a playable character in Mario Party Superstars, although he does appear in the game, particularly in the encyclopaedia in the data home via the main menu. A vast character library may be found in the game’s encyclopaedia. Bowser Jr., like all other characters that have appeared in Mario Party, has a description and the game art cover of the game in which he starred. The Mario Party Superstars encyclopaedia features a familiar attribute and sound effect for each character. Though this is a nice touch for lovers of the characters in the series, one fan was dismayed that Bowser Jr. isn’t available.
A Mario Party Superstars fan and modder, according to Game Rant, has made a mod for the game that allows users to play as Bowser Jr. Sgt. Spike, a YouTuber, posted a video on their channel demonstrating the mod in action. Junior can be seen progressing over the gaming board, participating in minigames, and even interacting with characters in the film. As noted in Sgt. Spike’s GameBanana article for the Bowser Jr. mod, the mod completely replaces Mario, Daisy, and Birdo from Mario Party Superstars. Bowser Jr.’s model was built using a mix of new movements and animations from previous Super Mario Party games. Bowser Jr. speech clips, unique icons, and three new Junior stickers are all included in the update.
They need to solve a few of the issues, according to Sgt. Spike. For example, the modder claims that Bowser Jr.’s animations aren’t very nice because they haven’t been completely altered yet, particularly in a handful of the minigames. Junior also appears to grip certain objects wrongly for the same reason. In reality, the camera focuses on Bowser Junior’s feet rather than his face when he obtains an item. Finally, his symbol does not always fit into the portraits of the character pick screens or the portraits of the post-minigame results screen. Sgt. Spike did say that in the future, they will make even more enhancements.
Characters like Bowser Jr. might be made officially playable characters in a Mario Party Superstars DLC. Fans of Bowser Jr. can enjoy Sgt. Spike’s Bowser Jr. mod till then.
