There will be a celebration for the New Year, and Slowbro will be joining in the festivities. Even though the game is presently running a Christmas event, it will continue to do so directly into this newly announced event. Pokémon GO lovers have a bright future ahead of them in 2022.
If you’ve played Pokémon GO recently, you may have noticed that it has taken advantage of the Christmas season. Participants in the Halloween Mischief event could take part from October 27 to October 31, and while Thanksgiving didn’t have its own event, it marked the conclusion of Season of Mischief. In December, the 5-and-a-half-year-old game has had its own events and themes, indicating that there is still a lot to look forward to for its followers. Season 10 of Pokémon GO brought in the Season of Heritage, which may be linked to the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which is scheduled for release on January 28th. Even into the New Year, the event appeared to continue going on.
Slowpoke and its evolutions get a little extra attention in a new Pokémon Go blog article about the approaching New Year’s celebration. The Season of Heritage tale runs from December 31st at 10:00 p.m. until Tuesday, January 4th at 8 p.m. local time during the event. As a New Year’s gift for players who want to hatch eggs, the game will include three days of fireworks that will give players two times as much hatch stardust, two times as much hatch candy, and one-third the hatch distance for the first three days of the celebration. Though Pokémon GO’s treasure boxes and gambling-like eggs have drawn criticism, many gamers still need to hatch their eggs, so this event should be a boon.
However, the fun doesn’t end there. It’s possible to finish Timed Research during the event, and with it comes a variety of New Year’s-themed Pokémon, including starters and Slowpoke with party hats and glasses that are a little out of date. As a result, players will have several chances to catch these festive Pokémon in wild encounters, raids, and eggs. There are several new avatar items and stickers in the in-game shop, as well as at Pokéstops and when you open gifts.
We can tell that Pokemon GO intends to end the year in style. So far as we know, Niantic has already announced a special Community Day in January of 2022, which will include a special appearance by Spheal. Whatever happens after that is anyone’s guess, but it’s a good idea to expect even more from the game when Pokémon Legends: Arceus comes out at the end of January. It’s a great moment to be a Pokémon enthusiast right now!
