A unique bridge bug in Red Dead Online allowed a player to go to the generally off-limits Mexico area of the multiplayer suite, which was previously unavailable. Those who played the first Red Dead Redemption will recall that a significant portion of the game took place in Mexico. It should come as no surprise that the prequel included a similar setting; however, gamers immediately learned that there was no way to visit the location in question. Of course, some players discovered an exploit that granted them access to Red Dead Redemption 2’s version of Mexico, however, their explorations of the southernmost region of the map were cut short after only a few minutes of rudimentary exploration.
At this point, it is unclear why Rockstar Games included the inaccessible location in the game. Many fans, on the other hand, had anticipated that Mexico’s appearance in Red Dead 2 would herald the arrival of DLC that would allow for more exploration. Unfortunately, no such material was ever released, and despite the studio’s continuous support for Red Dead Online, the game does not have an explorable Mexico environment. However, one player was able to momentarily reach the off-limits area, owing to the oddest of flaws in the multiplayer mode, which allowed him to do so.
Earlier this month, Reddit member clayCanoe (via GameRant) released a little video clip demonstrating that it is possible to enter Mexico when playing Red Dead Online. In a way, yes. The solution appears to be a quirk in Red Dead Online that involves throwing knives and a wooden bridge. ClayCanoe appears in the film, where he stands at the brink of a bridge and continuously throws throwing knives at the wooden planks. It doesn’t take long for this type of behaviour to trigger a bug, which shoots the player many feet into the air and allows them to float above Mexico for a short while. A significant distance is travelled before gravity takes hold and pulls the user plummeting back down to reality – which does not include an explorable Mexico in Red Dead Online, of course.
It appears that some things are simply not meant to be. Players, on the other hand, aren’t giving up hope, especially since Grand Theft Auto Online introduced a younger version of GTA V protagonist Franklin Clinton. Perhaps, in eight years, Red Dead Online will receive a substantial, story-centric upgrade that seems to be more in keeping with the single-player mode.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in October 2018, over eight and a half years after the original Red Dead Redemption game was released in May of 2010. The prequel was a critical and economic success, earning much Game of the Year awards and going on to sell more than 37 million copies across the world since its release.
