Ishigami is having difficulty with the assignment Shinomiya has assigned him. Both he and Iino can’t bring themselves to break the news to Shirogane that Kaguya has decided to leave school. The President has asked Shinomiya to speak with him directly, and despite Iino’s statement that her request demonstrates trust, Ishigami keeps contacting his buddy and pressing her to speak with him directly.
Iino and Ishigami are baffled as to what Shinomiya’s problem is, so they turn to Nagisa Kashiwagi, who is also a member of a traditional Japanese family, for assistance. The group learns from Kashiwagi that Shinomiya’s family is likely attempting to marry her off in order to better their social position. This surprises the pair, and they begin to question whether Kaguya and Miyuki may have to call it quits at some point in their relationship.
Kashiwagi runs into Mikado in the corridor and inquires as to if everything is going according to plan, to which he responds coldly that everything is. Is he the Shinomiya family’s intended mate for Kaguya, or is he a coincidence? Alternatively, may he be attempting to protect her from their influence?
The Chapter concludes on a depressing note, with Shinomiya ultimately phoning the President and informing him that she has been content with him, but that they should stop their relationship.
