The trailer opens with Reiner Braun speaking in voice-over, asking Eren many of the questions that non-manga readers are bound to have at this point, including: “What are you still fighting for?” and “How long have you been fighting?” “What exactly is the point?” When asked those questions, Eren’s response was one that we had heard many times before – from Eren himself, from his mother Carla, and from Willy Tybur – but it seemed even more mysterious in this context: “Because I was born into this planet.”
In any case, this current teaser gives fans hope that they will be able to find out what Eren’s logic and drive have been since the beginning of the fourth season.
This teaser also heightens the thrill and anticipation for the ultimate battle, in which Eren and his brother Zeke, the Beast Titan, will be pitted against practically everyone else, it appears, including both the major cast from Paradis and the Marley side. Another noteworthy scene is when Zeke and Eren appear to be reenacting the Rumbling.
They are shown connecting foreheads and merging the power of Eren’s Founding Titan with Zeke’s royal blood in order to bring about the cataclysmic catastrophe that would alter the course of history for all time.
Although the 1st season of Attack on Titan premiered in 2013, it took another five years for the second season to be released. Season 4 Part 1 of the show premiered in December 2020. The manga’s author, Hajime Isayama, completed the series earlier this year, with chapters 139 and 34 published volumes at the conclusion of the last chapter.
The premiere episode of Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 – Episode 76 – will debut on January 9, 2022, on the Syfy channel.
