Fans have taken to social media to express their displeasure with the GTA Trilogy remaster’s graphical defects, bugs, and lack of polish, and the problem appears to be getting worse by the day across all platforms. Despite the fact that its makers stated that the Definitive Edition would be enhanced over time through patches, dissatisfied players raced to request refunds, which ultimately resulted in delays and rejected refund requests being processed. The remastered GTA collection has received a Metacritic score of less than 0.5 across various platforms, making it one of the most critically panned game releases of the year.
In celebration of Grand Theft Auto III’s 20th anniversary, developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive announced the long-rumored GTA trilogy remaster this past October, as well as revamped versions of the three groundbreaking PS2-era classics – GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas – for modern platforms. This week, Rockstar confirmed that the Definitive Edition would have graphics changes, next-generation advancements, and modernized controls, much like its previous entry Grand Theft Auto V. The Definitive Edition will be released on November 14. Though little information was available following the release of the first full trailer, leaked pre-release gameplay led to overwhelmingly negative reactions from fans, many of whom criticized the remastered collection for appearing to be a refurbished version of the previously maligned mobile ports; all of which turned out to be correct when hidden touchscreen controls within the GTA Trilogy’s code were discovered shortly after the game’s release.
A film showing what appears to be a newly discovered cannon issue in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was shared on Reddit by user SexCurryBeats. At one point in the video, the player can be seen in a vehicle waiting at a petrol station in the town of San Fierro in the province of San Andreas. In the next few moments, a taxi is hurled down the street at an unpredictably high rate of speed, knocking all of the cars off the road and into different parts of the map. While the majority of the automobiles are thrown to the ground, one car being propelled north into the air spins uncontrolled, taking on the appearance of a UFO before disappearing totally seconds later. It’s unclear what caused the problem, but some players in the comments have stated that the fault is as ancient as the game itself and that Rockstar Games has done a better job at concealing it in the past.
Fans have recently uncovered another easily reproducible issue from the original Grand Theft Auto Trilogy games, which has made a comeback in the newly remastered compilation of the game series. Any deceased NPCs are attached to the back of a motorcycle tyre that the player is operating when this issue occurs, which can be encountered at any time. Like the cannon issue, players have said that they have encountered the bug several times in the past, and the GTA Trilogy remaster collection has only made it more obvious.
Despite the fact that the GTA Trilogy continues to be plagued by a slew of flaws and defects, the collection is no longer in the same form as when it was first released. Rockstar Games is started to provide patches to address many of the faults and difficulties that players are experiencing, and the game may eventually take on the shape that was initially envisioned at the outset.
