Toei Animation, the Japanese animation studio, will produce the World Trigger Season 4 anime. The B-Rank Wars story arc will be completed in Season 4 of World Trigger, and the Expedition Selection Exam story arc will be adapted. But, with manga creator Daisuke Ashihara’s health troubles persisting, how will the anime TV series’ future be affected?
The core cast for World Trigger Season 4 has yet to be revealed. However, at least some of the original cast members are expected to return for the fourth season. The 2nd & 3rd seasons were directed by Morio Hatano, who took over for Kouji Ogawa. If the 4th season is in the works, it seems sensible to entrust it to a filmmaker with Morio’s track record.
For the second and third seasons, some members of the previous season’s staff returned. The series was composed by returning writer Hiroyuki Yoshino (Code Geass, Magi, Strike The Blood).
The character designer was Toshihisa Kaiya (Ascendance of a Bookworm, Haikyuu!! ), a returning artist. The music was composed by Kenji Kawai (Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, Fate/stay Night, No Guns Life).
The music for the World Trigger Season 4 OP (opening) and ED (ending) theme songs has yet to be revealed.
For the third season, rock band Kami wa Saikoro o Furanai performed the OP “Time Factor,” while Fantastic Youth sang the ED “Yearning to Be Above the Clouds (Ungair Doukei).”
The first season consisted of six courses with a total of 73 episodes, which were released in three Blu-ray boxes on March 10, 2021. The strategy for the anime TV series’ continuance appears to revolve around the manga creator’s repeated hiatuses/breaks in recent years. Based on how the official announcements were worded, the release timeline appears to have been modified on the fly.
For example, it appears that the second season was planned to be split into two parts. However, they “decided to develop a third season as the tale was broken into two halves,” according to the official Twitter page.
According to the official Toei Animation website, the second season was initially planned to end in 13 episodes, but that was changed to only 12 episodes in April 2021.
In effect, the third season was a split-cour anime, in which a single season takes a pause from broadcasting for numerous cours. The separate courses were, nevertheless, legally labeled as separate numbered seasons in this case. (A similar event happened when the 86 anime TV series were announced.)
On December 26, 2021, World Trigger Season 3 Episode 12 (World Trigger Episode 97 in the overall series) was released as the third season’s finale. Two Blu-Ray sets and four DVD volumes were published for the 12 episodes.
Predictions for the release of World Trigger 4: Is there a chance of a swift turnaround in 2022?
As of the most recent update, neither Studio Toei Entertainment nor any other organization involved in the anime’s development had officially announced the World Trigger Season 4 release date. The sequel to World Trigger 4 has also not been announced. This post will be updated with the appropriate information once the news is officially confirmed. In the meanwhile, it’s conceivable to guess when or whether World Trigger 4 will be released.
Spoilers for World Trigger 4 (plot summary/synopsis)
The big moment has arrived, and Chika Amatori’s willpower is put to the test after Hyuse abandons a large-scale Meteor strike plan. Will Tamakoma-2 be able to climb to second place in the standings and earn a seat on the away team?
The final battle isn’t exactly the finish because the overall ranking is determined by a mid-tier encounter. Yuba Squad will fight hard to stay in the top tier in the last B-Rank encounter.
Because it’s senior shooter Akane Hiura’s final match, Chika is very eager to view the vertical Cityscape C battle. Akane is the last agent standing, earning Nasu Squad one vital survival point and propelling them into the top-tier B-Rank for the first time!
Now that the season is complete, all attention is focused on selecting the agents who will participate in the away assignment. Border HQ must identify agents who can safely leave their squads without putting Border in danger; therefore, the decision to join the away team is based on cold calculations. In the event that these operatives are caught by enemy Neighbors, they cannot know any damaging Border secrets.
Reghi and Ratarykov, two Galopoula Neighbors, aim to sneak inside Meeden by not wearing Trion bodies so that the sensors won’t detect them. Because the Galopoula is a vassal state under Aftokrator, Yuichi Jin utilizes his foresight to contact them, knowing that the Neighbors’ purpose is to sabotage Border’s forthcoming away mission.
Jin’s purpose is to form an alliance with Galopoula because his side effect indicates that doing so will benefit both Border and Galopoula in the future. But what can Jin provide the Neighbors that will entice them to rebel against their Aftokrator masters?
As if things weren’t confusing enough, Tamakoma-2’s status as number two isn’t enough to get her into the expeditionary squad because the agents must pass a multi-phase away mission selection test.
Osamu Mikumo, aka “Four Eyes,” recognizes that this test will be the most difficult he’s ever faced, and even Jin agrees that the future might go either way.
Furthermore, Border HQ has decided to use the event to identify which members of Border are the most powerful. As a result, they’re reorganizing their squads. This involves disbanding the current teams and establishing new squads with interim captains!
Unfortunately, anime lovers will have to wait until the release date of World Trigger Season 4 to see what happens next. Keep an eye out!
