The soon-to-be-released Pokémon Legends: Arceus may include Origin Formes for Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia, similar to their Generation IV Legendary equivalent Giratina, according to a cleverly orchestrated leak. Due to the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl last month, Dialga and Palkia are at the heart of current Pokémon-related conversations, yet the game did not include any such Origin Forme for the two Pokémon; instead, Giratina can be obtained in the game.
Giratina is not only catchable but also unlocked in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in its Origin Forme. Giratina is recognized for its Origin Forme, which is one of several forms that various Pokémon have. Giratina’s Altered Forme is its most common form, with six thick legs and a pair of black wings, for lack of a better term. Giratina assumes its Origin Forme while in the Distortion World, a parallel dimension that serves as its home, which is more snake-like in appearance. Its Origin Forme has six appendages that extend from its back instead of legs (in lieu of its black wings). If Giratina is holding a Griseous Orb, she can reach this from outside of the Distortion World. Although both forms of Giratina are the same Pokémon, the Origin Forme is more offensive than the Altered Forme, and both have different attributes and abilities.
Given that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will supposedly include 17 current Pokémon with new Hisuian forms (such as Voltorb and Growlithe), Origin Formes for some Legendary Pokémon are not out of the question – and this could be the case, according to recent leaks (via Dexerto). Riddler Khu, a reputable Pokémon leaker, first tweeted a mysterious remark in Chinese, which caused others (like Buzzlorddd) to deduce that the tweet’s pronunciation sounded like “origin DP dragons are the last bosses.” As a result, there are growing concerns about the Dialga and Palkia Origin Formes being revealed. The leak itself added to the excitement, with Buzzlordddd adding, “This is an extremely brilliant… very clever method to leak,” and sharing the audio pronunciation from Google Translate.
Even if the Dialga and Palkia Origin Formes do not appear in the future game, there will be plenty of Hisuian varieties to enjoy in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Fans were drawn to Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark after they were presented in a scary video teaser that showed the two Pokémon in their horrific white forms. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark have distinct backstories as well: they are ghosts who died while migrating to a new territory, and in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they will be vengeful spirits.
Without an official announcement or in-game revelation, leaks can’t be confirmed, but the theories around distinct Pokémon forms highlight the future game’s focus on delivering players a new setting – and a significantly revised Pokédex. Players shouldn’t expect a totally new, revised list of Pokémon to face off against, but there’s a lot to look forward to in terms of how Pokémon Legends: Arceus differs from prior chapters in the franchise.
