An online petition has been launched by fans of Amazon Game Studios’ New World in order to persuade the game’s developers to offer a live stream of them playing the game. The new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) was published in September and has been likened to titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online.
Amazon’s debut into the realm of massively multiplayer online gaming has been a one-of-a-kind experience. As opposed to a more traditional high-fantasy universe such as World of Warcraft, New World takes place in a colonial-inspired setting. When compared to other massively multiplayer online role-playing games, the game places a greater emphasis on immersive, moment-to-moment fighting, resource collection, and crafting. Players have praised the New World for its aesthetics and fanciful, often dazzling, world design, which has garnered widespread attention. New World, on the other hand, has been criticized for flaws such as repetitive gameplay, shallow mechanics, difficulty spikes, and a slew of glitches and performance concerns, all of which have been cited as reasons why some gamers might wish to avoid the game. More than a hundred thousand New World gamers have already abandoned the game in the first few weeks after its release, lending validity to some of these worries.
Having said that, New World has a loyal, though relatively tiny, following of players, many of whom are eager to witness firsthand how the game’s producers deal with some of the game’s more contentious parts. According to a post on the New World forums (which was later shared by Redditor Nervbold1 and covered by Game Rant), the game’s devs are being challenged to finish a chest run in Myrkgard an exceedingly difficult endgame zone. Players must have a fixed gear score of approximately 550-580, be playing on a live server, and kill all foes they come across in order to qualify for the challenge. The message also advises that the stream be used to raise money for a good cause. It is possible to track support for the stream by looking at the number of likes received on the initial forum post.
Back in November, players slammed New World on Steam, claiming that an update had significantly increased the complexity of the game’s adversaries. According to players, this modification has made New World less entertaining, making it an ingenious idea to attempt and persuade the developers to stream themselves playing the game, at the very least in principle. If the developers accept the gamers’ challenge, it has the potential to either put the subject to rest fully or further stir irritation and disapproval within the community.
The creators of New World are unlikely to agree to this suggestion, which is understandable given their position. Unless the post in question receives a significant amount of attention, it is unlikely that it will even be answered at all. Even if the devs do decide to organize a charity stream in which they play the game, it will undoubtedly be a sight to witness.
