On The Game Awards 2021, Asobo Studio’s anticipated A Plague Tale: Requiem revealed a first-look gameplay clip. A Plague Tale: Requiem, developed by Asobo and published by Focus Entertainment, was presented at E3 2021 this past summer. The reappearance of main protagonists Amicia and Hugo de Rune was confirmed, as was the game’s release on Xbox Game Pass.
A Plague Tale: Innocence, a stealth-action game set in France during the Hundred Years’ War, was a surprise hit in 2019. Amicia de Rune, the protagonist of the storey, is tasked with leading her younger brother, Hugo, across a plague-infested countryside. The real antagonists in A Plague Tale are rodents, hordes and hordes of filthy rats, despite the efforts of a few enemy soldiers. In light of everything we’ve seen so far, A Plague Tale: Requiem won’t be any different.
Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment released a gameplay trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem at this year’s Game Awards 2021 on Sunday night. It wasn’t the rats that stole the show, but the hints at what’s to come for Amicia and Hugo. The trailer begins with a quotation from Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Requiem,” and the scenes of Amicia fighting rodents and men quickly take centre stage from thereon. Amicia appears to be suffering from the Macula curse that has infected young Hugo. Check out the video below to see it in action:
It appears like A Plague Tale: Requiem, the sequel to the critically acclaimed A Plague Tale, will be every bit as intense as its predecessor. Though information about the overarching narrative is still under wraps, players could be in for another very emotional experience.
Despite the release of a new video, Asobo Studio’s upcoming stealth-action game remains unannounced. However, the appearance of a “2022” card at the end of playtime shows that Asobo and Focus Entertainment remain confident that Requiem will be ready for primetime come next year.
