Toyotarou, the protagonist of Dragon Ball Super, teases that Bardock’s ordeal is not yet ended. Granolah the Survivor, the first episode of Dragon Ball Super, has already exposed the origins of Goku’s father, Bardock, as well as how his past is tied to Granolah, the lone Cerealian survivor whom he rescued 40 years ago from a burning building. Fans have been wondering if we would see more of Bardock in the manga series created by Akira Toriyama and illustrator Toyatarou, and it appears that Toyotarou is not opposed to the idea of seeing more of him.
A recent interview video from the official Dragon Ball website asked artist Toyotarou about Bardock’s future, and he indicated the possibility of a larger role for Goku’s father in the series’ future.
In response to a question about the tale, Toyotaro said, “Well, I can’t answer questions about the storey, but it’s safe to say that Bardock plays a key role in this arc.” “He may or may not [emerge] in the future. He is, without a question, a pivotal character in the storey. However, I can’t say when or where he’ll emerge in the plot, only that he’s a crucial character in the Granolah arc, so you should be prepared to get a little excited.”
Long-time Dragon Ball fans will be familiar with the fact that Bardock is the father of Raditz and Goku. The Saiyan warrior made his television debut in the 1990 television special Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku, in which he was the titular protagonist. He was well-known as a skilled fighter and committed Saiyan Army soldier under the Frieza Force until he became aware of Frieza’s despotic ambitions to exterminate the Saiyan race and resigned from his position. Toei Animation was primarily responsible for the creation of Bardock, but the character also made a brief cameo appearance in Akira Toriyama’s manga. In a flashback where Frieza sees Goku, who reminds him of Bardock, Frieza recalls that Goku’s father had attacked him right before Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, and died along with the rest of the Saiyans when Frieza annihilated the planet using a Super
Following the events of previous Dragon Ball Super chapters, it was revealed that Bardock had arrived on planet Cereal, but instead of assisting in the annihilation of all Cerealians on the world, he chose to save Granolah, Muesli (Granolah’s mother), and Monaito instead. Unfortunately, Bardock was unable to save Muesli from the Heeter Force, but he was successful in keeping Granolah safe from the evil crime family.
