It was revealed in the most recent chapter of My Hero Academia that the traitor within the U.A. is not who the previous chapter suggested.
Warning: Chapter 336 of My Hero Academia contains spoilers.
You can finally find out who is the traitor in My Hero Academia, and it’s not who you expected. Manga chapter 336 revealed that the traitor was not Toru Hagakure (Invisible Girl), but rather Yuga Aoyama, who had been strongly implied to be a traitor in the previous chapter.
The U.S. theory
Fans of the show have long debated whether or not a character is a traitor. At the beginning of the manga, villains invaded a training exercise for the young heroes, igniting suspicions that there was a traitor among either the students or the staff of U.A.R.A. In the wake of author Khei Horikoshi’s hints, many readers devised a list of possible traitors, including Aoyama, Hagakure, and Denki Kaminari. While All for One was talking about his “friends” in U.A. High, everyone assumed he was referring to Toru based on the final panel of chapter 335, which featured an image of Invisible Girl. Everyone was fooled by the ruse.
An emotional conversation between Aoyama’s parents and Invisible Girl was depicted in Chapter 336. In light of the revelation that All For One is blackmailing the family, Yuga has been forced to act as his spy and saboteur in the classroom at U.A. High. His role was to help the villains infiltrate the USJ exercise and then reveal the location of the forest training camp. That All For One has such sway over the Aoyamas may be the most shocking revelation yet. Deku, the protagonist of the series, was born without a quirk. When he was a kid, his parents asked All For One to give young Yuga a quirk, thus falling under the villain’s influence, because they were afraid he would not fit into a society dominated by super-powers.
Horikoshi showed that he was aware of the fan theories about the traitor in one plot twist and that he could play with them to ensure maximum effect. Because of this, he took his storey on an unexpected path, as well. Aoyama’s significance as the traitor outweighs the fact that he isn’t the most terrifying opponent for Deku. As with Deku, he was born without a quirk but later developed one. When it comes to powers, Midoriya got his from All Might, while Aoyama got his from All For One. To be born “normal” in a world where everyone is “special” is the greatest sin, both characters’ stories in My Hero Academia represent this dark side of superhero society. Because of their parents’ influence, they went down different paths. Even though they thought they were doing it for his benefit, Midoriya’s parents forced their son into the hands of All For One, whereas his mother’s relationship with him was crucial in shaping his heroic attitude.
Seeing how Deku reacts to this information will be interesting. “I am a scumbag villain,” Yuga admitted to Hagakure after leading him to the Aoyama family’s secret meeting place. Exactly how will Midoriya deal with this haunting reminder of his own personal history? To find out, fans of My Hero Academia will have to wait for the next chapter.
