Upon more investigation, he discovers that the institute allows his students to compete in a variety of events. The victor of the series advances to the next round, while the loser is eliminated at the end of the first round of competition. The eventual victor will have everything he or she desires.
They taught them tricks, and via the use of tricks, the students were able to borrow some supernatural power from various Gods and other beings in order to fight in the war.
