The fact that everyone has their own opinion regarding the live-action Cowboy Bebop series leaves little doubt, but we can all agree on one thing: Ein was simply perfect. Even John Cho agrees, and the show’s lead actor even went so far as to reveal the true plot of the series, which revolves around Ein the Data Dog, in an interview with Variety.
A new video describing the plot of the Cowboy Bebop Netflix series has been posted to the official Cowboy Bebop Twitter account by John Cho. When asked about the plot of Cowboy Bebop in the video, Cho says that the film is about Ein, who was living his own life before being compelled to live with a bunch of bounty hunters.
“Cowboy Bebop is the story of a corgi who was minding his own business while vacationing on the shores of New Mars, drinking a dog margarita from a bowl, when he is kidnapped and transported on a spaceship with a group of bounty hunters,” Cho explained. He then goes into depth about how the Bebop cast and crew treated the canine.
According to Cho, the dog has been “underfed, forced to sleep in quarters that are not suited for dog paws, has no access to grass or dirt upon which to urinate or poo, and is treated viciously by a woman, who forces him to dance against his will.” Obviously, the last section is a reference to Faye Valentine’s retelling of how she brought down the bounty hunter Roland Dupree while dancing the tango with him in the film (no, seriously, they were dancing).
Of course, it isn’t exactly what happened in Cowboy Bebop, but it would have been amazing if the show had been centered around Ein the Great. Perhaps Netflix could consider developing a spin-off series centered on the Data Dog and his new pal Radical Ed, who was introduced in the season’s finale.
It is now possible to watch the first season of Cowboy Bebop on Netflix in its entirety. Keep an eye out for updates on Season 2 (or Ein’s spin-off) of the show.
