It was recently discovered by the YouTube channel PokeTips that it is possible to obtain Mythical Pokémon Shaymin by exploiting a flaw in the new Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl game.
Thanks to a YouTube channel dedicated to Pokémon news and advice, gamers of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl now have a way for obtaining the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin earlier than originally planned in the game. Mythical Pokémon should not be confused with Legendary Pokémon, despite the fact that the two types share a few characteristics in common.
Pokémon that are considered to be Mythical are technically Legendary in nature as well – however, Mythical Pokémon may only be obtained by means that are not included in the main games, such as special events or downloadable content. Non-Mythical Legendary Pokémon, on the other hand, can be obtained during the course of a game’s storyline.
In addition to being tough to obtain in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and any previous Pokémon instalments, several Pokémon that appear in the newly released remakes are also difficult to confront. Pokémon Munchlax, one of the most popular Pokémon in the world, was virtually unobtainable thanks to the brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl producers. Players must look beyond encounters with Munchlax (which eventually matures into the recognisable Snorlax) if they are to capture the creature.
Honey Trees, on the other hand, must be slathered with the Honey item in order to attract the cute Pokémon. After that, players must wait for six hours before checking their traps for the evasive Munchlax – and even then, there is only a one percent chance of success with this strategy if they use it. Because of a glitch in the games Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, encountering Mythical Pokémon Shaymin becomes very easier at that moment. Thanks to the YouTube channel PokeTips (via Dexerto), gamers now have a tutorial on how to obtain Shaymin earlier than they had originally planned on doing so. Shaymin is supposed to be encountered during the Oak’s Letter event, which was added to the game as part of the Mystery Gift feature’s Mystery Gift mode.
However, if players have already fought the Elite Four, vanquished the Sinnoh Champion, and obtained the National Pokédex, they will be able to access a bug that will allow them to combat Shaymin. Near the end of Route 224, just past Victory Road, players will come across an NPC trainer named “Black Belt Carl,” who will be seen pacing around in circles beside the ocean coast. Specifically, according to PokeTips, players must position themselves such that they are within Carl’s line of sight, and then “slam” the A-button when Carl notices them (which is represented by a floating “!” symbol above his head).
Players will be able to surf on land after the combat, providing everything has been done correctly. Following that, modest motions toward an elevated place will lead the player to practically fly and land in a body of water nearby. Other steps are required at this time, but the ultimate goal is to infiltrate Mythical Pokémon Shaymin’s territory, Flower Paradise, by the use of these tactics in order to complete the journey.
It’s unclear whether this glitch was intentionally included in the game; however, given Nintendo’s penchant for including amusing glitches in games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it’s possible that developers wanted players to manipulate the game in ways that would be beneficial to them.
