INKR, an online manga and comics reader, has announced that new chapters of Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers would be made available through its website in the near future.
The INKR service will now be used to disseminate new chapters of the Tokyo Revengers comic book series.
It has been reported that INKR, a digital comic website and app platform, has entered into a partnership with Kodansha to offer more than 20 manga titles from the publisher to its service. Most notably, the enormously popular time-traveling thriller series, Tokyo Revengers, will now be released as new digital chapters through the service’s website as well as specialised iOS and Android apps. A limited number of chapters from various series are available for free on INKR, but viewers can upgrade to an all-access subscription for $4.99 per month. Individual chapters can also be purchased with coins, which is the company’s in-app currency, by readers. Individual digital chapters of Tokyo Revengers will only be available for purchase through INKR, and will not be available anywhere else.
Other Kodansha titles that have recently become accessible on INKR include Fire Force by Atsushi Okubo, Fairy Tail by Hiro Mashima, and Space Brothers by Chuya Koyama.
“We are overjoyed at the prospect of providing our readers and admirers with the most cost-effective option to read the most recent issues of Tokyo Revengers, as well as an expanded library of fantastic content from Kodansha Publishing. Its massive popularity, which can be attributed in part to the success of its ongoing anime series, has created an insatiable appetite among fans for more content, which we hope to satisfy on a regular basis with the manga and other media “Hieu Tran, co-founder and head of operations at INKR, shared his thoughts.
Other comic book and manga publishers from around the world have joined with INKR, including Image Comics, Kuaikan, and Tokyo Pop, in addition to the Japanese publisher Kodansha. Currently, the service hosts over 10,000 lawfully distributed chapters of Western comics, Japanese manga, Korean manhwa, and Chinese manhua, among other things. After launching in October 2020, the service said that its average monthly readership had increased by 200 percent by July 2021, a year after its first launch.
Tokyo Revengers is an anime series developed by Ken Wakui that recounts the narrative of Takemichi Hanagaki, a middle-aged loser who is stuck in a dead-end career and a run-down apartment. It isn’t long before Takemichi learns that the only girl he has ever loved, his middle school lover Hinata Tachibana, has been murdered by the deadly Tokyo Manji Gang, and that his miserable existence has taken an even more tragic turn. In the end, Takemichi is given a second chance after being shoved in front of an upcoming training session and inexplicably awakens in his youthful form, 12 years in the past.
Tokyo Revengers is one of the most successful manga series to come out of Japan in recent years, having sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. In addition to an anime series and a live-action film, the manga has been converted into a number of other media, the most recent of which is available for viewing on Crunchyroll.
