JuJutsu Kaisen Chapter 165: Recap, Spoilers, & More

Jujutsu Kaisen is in full swing with its current culling game arc. And with Itadori’s cursed energy snatched from him what can he do against Higuruma and his domain expansion. Now that leaks and raw scans are out for chapter 165 we’ll break it all down for you with this week’s spoilers, release dates, and more.
Chapter 164 Recap
In the previous chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Tokyo No.1 Colony, Part 4, lays up a lot of stuff for this forthcoming 165th episode. So before we move into the spoilers for the following chapter, let’s give a little summary of what went on in 164.
Chapter 164 picks us right where 163 left us, with Yuji and Higuruma preparing to show down. Itadori thinks to himself that he needs to be prepared for whatever attack that Higuruma will throw, after all, he has murdered before. But suddenly out of nowhere instead of assaulting Higuruma activates his domain extension and draws Yuji in with him. The domain seems like some sort of court space which makes sense considering Higuruma is an actual lawyer. Yuji’s first thought is to assault Higrurma before he has the chance to perform any type of technique. However, there seems to be a barrier between Yuji and Higuruma. Higuruma then begins to describe how his domain expansion works.
A judge Shinigami shows there and Higuruma explains that his realm is termed deadly sentencing. The Judgeman will announce the offence that Itadori has against him. In this situation, entering a gaming shop although underage. Higuruma will have evidence in his hands, yet if the evidence is a bluff or not no one knows. Yuji has three possibilities to pick from in this situation. He can reject the charge, confess to them, or keep silent. After much discussion Itadori chooses to deny the charges, but, Higuruma has proof against him, causing Itadori to be charged as guilty. His penalty, confiscation. Itadori’s cursed energy was removed from him. Ending last week’s chapter on that cliffhanger.
Chapter 165 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dig straight into chapter 164’s spoilers. Warning, however, some raws for the future chapter are already available therefore there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned. Chapter 165 backtracks a bit from 164’s judgement on Itadori. Instead, opening this new chapter with a short explanation about Higuruma and his magical talent. Higuruma is described as a sorcery genius, in truth, he currently has the ability of a grade 1 sorcerer. Meaning that Higuruma is half a grade stronger than Itadori, who is graded at the level of a semi-level 1 sorcerer.
This chapter also reveals why Itadori’s cursed magic was revoked from him. The domain originally is designed to temporarily steal the cursed technique of the accused, but as Itadori had no cursed technique, it seized his cursed energy, prohibiting him from employing any.
Going back to the fight between Itadori and Higuruma, Itadori is stuck in a bad place as he has to take Higuruma’s attacks and seek for a hole in between strikes. Ash Itadori is slowly becoming used to Higuruma’s strikes, he recognizes that his cursed energy is progressively returning to him. Whilst he was building up his power for an attack Higuruma surprised him by employing domain expansion again.
This time, however Itadori is accused of having committed mass murder in Shibuya. Something Sukuna did many chapters ago when he activated his domain expansion. After asking Itadori for his statement, Itadori states. “Yeah, I did it, I won’t try to lie or get out of it, practically instantly. Due to this Judgeman judges Itadori guilty. This time his punishment is far more harsh, instead of confiscation, Itadori is faced with the death penalty. And that is where the chapter ends, leaving us on a pretty severe cliffhanger.
It seems there are three ways Itadori can get out of this. Sukuna helps him out and heals him when he gets the death punishment. Sukuna activates his own domain expansion, utterly destroying Higuruma’s. And eventually, Itadori forms his own domain expansion. Which do you think will happen? Have theories of your own?
