Death Note is originally a manga series that was initially published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump for a total of 108 chapters from 1 December 2003 to 15 May 2006. Death Note: Synopsis
A Death Note is a not-so-ordinary notebook that is owned by every Shinigami or the god of death that provides them the capacity to kill any individual by merely writing their name in it given that they are familiar with the intended person’s face. Ryuk, one of such so-called Shinigamis, bored with his life and intrigued about how a human may use a Death Note, flung one into the human realm one day for entertainment purposes.
As fate would have it, the one fortunate enough to pick up the Death Note is none other than Light Yagami, a high school genius. A bored and interested Light decides to check the veracity of the notepad by typing in a criminal’s name. With the quick death of the particular criminal, Light comes to the awareness of just what a powerful and dangerous weapon he holds.
Equipped by these almighty powers, Light decides to build and become the god of an all-new universe without any crime by writing the names of all the offenders in the Death Note. However, all is not as easy as it looks as the cops rapidly catch up that a serial killer killing criminals is on the loose. To fight Light, a genius, the police need the help of another genius, the best investigator in the world, that goes by the name of L. Thus, commences what you term a war of wits.
