Fire Force is at its last arc, but that doesn’t mean Atsushi Ōkubo is going to go easy on us. As demonstrated in the current episode where the mangaka killed out not one, but two brigade captains. Since this final arc has began, Ōkubo has begun to kill off practically all our favorite characters. With Arthur supposed to be dead, Iris, Sumire, Inca, and now captains, Obi and Huang, many are wondering. Whose next?!?
Chapter 290 Recap
In the last chapter of Fire Force, we took off precisely where the chapter before left off. With Haumea rips a hole right through Shinra’s chest. This chapter comes with excellent news since as we now know, Shinra survived the blast. Thanks to the captain of the 6th division captain Huang and her healing flames. After healing Shinra, Shinra’s adolla flames spread onto her, regretfully leading her to burn up and die. The first death of a captain we encounter in this chapter.
After getting cured Shinra comments on how he can hear and see what’s happening on Earth. He also continues to emphasize that it was only owing to folks on Earth that he has been able to even reach this far. Shinra announces one last time that he is not the devil, but rather the hero, and he will battle to preserve the lives of citizens.
As he rushes in to assault, he can’t land the attack again. However, the wind from his punch does move Haumea’s hair. Proof that Shinra is modifying fate. Haumea warns him that it is all too late, as she instructs him to look down at Earth, adding that the last flame of despair is going to be ignited. On Earth we witness the 8th division assisting civilians evacuate and all is going fine. Licht notices something is off with captain Obi, who is at the incorrect place. What he noticed was truly weird but he realizes too late, as the doppelganger of Obi comes up behind him and slashes his neck with a knife. Obi falls with blood flowing down his neck as Shinra who watched this all go down succumbs to his wrath.
Chapter 291 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dig straight into chapter 291’s spoilers. Warning, however, some raws for the future chapter are already available therefore there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.
A lot of big events go place in this next chapter so if you want to wait for the official release to read, here is your final warning! Now then let’s move into what goes down in chapter 291 of Fire Force.
As we saw the past chapter Shinra succumbs to wrath and begins to lunge towards Haumea and attack her, fully ignoring his brother in the background. Haumea doesn’t get hit by any of these attacks but Shinra keeps going. Back on Earth, we can see that the catalyst has begun to take effect. With Obi the last human standing between hopelessness gone and the hero assuming full devil mode, all hope has been lost. The one item needed for the catalyst to commence.
We watch as both regular folks and fan-favorite characters are devoured up by the black flames consuming the flames. Among those we see become caught up in the flames we can clearly distinguish, Lisa, Licht, Maki, Vulcan, Tamaki, Hinawa, and Obi’s corpse. And those are only the characters from the 8th division, we also see Benimaru and Konro get one more drink together as they smile blissfully while the flames engulf them. We also see Joker standing above all these flames on a high-rise structure, staring down on victims getting burned.
Back in Adolla after watching the death of all his friends and associates, Shinra sinks into despair. Thus sending the Earth into a full catalyst. By the end of the chapter, the entire world is consumed in flames.
