As of today, Jujutsu Kaisen is back in full swing after a brief one-week hiatus. Finally, in this week’s part, dubbed Tokyo Colony 1 – Part 4, we get to watch Itadori and Reiji Higuruma square off against each other. Also in this week’s edition, the mangaka, George Akutami, gives us his assurances regarding last week’s unexpected delay.
“I got unwell after getting my second vaccine shot,” she explained. Please accept my apologies for having everyone wait.” Fortunately, the reason for the delay was not life-threatening, and after only a week’s gap, we were able to see this incredible author back in work. So many thanks to Gege Akutami, and please make sure to read Jujutsu Kaisen in its entirety to show your support for him and his incredible narrative.
Recap of Chapter 163
In the most recent chapter, JJK of, we learned more about Yuji’s relationship with Culling Game player, Rin Amai.
As we witness Rin with a group of bullies ganging up on a kid in a brief flashback, Rin outlines his way of life for high school, which is based on his own experiences.
If you simply grin and go along with it, the other guys will not perceive you as an easy target, and sometimes good things will happen. He says this while watching the rest of the group attack a member of the group. It is at this point that Itadori appears (he was in middle school at the time) and instructs the bullies to stop harassing him.
Itadori takes down the bullies in the next couple of panels, and we get to see him do it. All the while, a terrified Rin looks on.
Now, flashing forward to the present, Itadori and Megumi are both being escorted to Higuruma’s residence by their respective “guides.” In the meantime, Rin takes Itadori to a sort of theatre, and Remi takes Megumi to an apartment complex. It comes out that Remi is the traitor and that she was the one who took Megumi to her master. After telling them to stop up, Megumi prepared to fight, furious that Remi wasted his time by interrupting.
In contrast, Itadori discovers Higuruma, who is bathing in a tub while still wearing his clothes in the midst of the theatre stage?! Itadori approaches Higuruma and urges him to use his points to eliminate the killing rule, to which Higuruma responds categorically in the negative. And the two of them are ready to battle.
Spoilers for Chapter 164
Let’s go right into the spoilers for chapter 164 now that we’ve caught up. Note that certain raws for the future chapter have already been released, therefore there are confirmed spoilers in the following section; you have been forewarned. This chapter takes up just where the previous chapter left us, with both boxers poised to begin their fight to the death in this chapter.
As we learned from the chapter teaser, this one is a thriller. Itadori is patiently awaiting Higuruma’s initial attack, telling himself that he must be prepared for anything that may come his way. When Higuruma does the most unexpected thing, he attacks with a domain extension, which is really effective.
Itadori leaps towards his opponent, attempting desperately to land a hit on him before he can activate his cursed technique, but he is unsuccessful in his efforts. Not because he was too slow or because he missed, but rather because, as Higuruma says, none of them is allowed to use violence in this area, he is not allowed to use violence.
In order to begin reading Yuji Itador’s “crimes,” a shikigami by the name of Judgeman must first read off the following list. Itadori Yuji, a minor under the age of 18, entered the Maji Vegas gambling facility in Sendai on the 16/2017/17. Higuruma then reveals to an understandably perplexed Itadori that Judgeman is well-versed in the affairs of the two individuals who have entered the domain expansion.
Despite the fact that this information is not shared with Higuruma, he does receive an envelope stuffed with quote-on-quote proof. He goes on to explain that the evidence is pointless since Judgeman takes his judgement solely on the basis of the declarations of the two participants.
Make a claim, dispel your concerns, and earn a not guilty verdict from Judgeman!
A flashback scene between Tengen and Itadori follows, which is then cut to the present. Tengen reveals to our hero that domain expansions in the past were different from domain expansions in the present day. Although the must-hit rule remains the same, other aspects of the game have evolved, such as Higuruma’s domain extension, in which regulations are applied to both sides of the field.
Following that, we see Higuruma outlining the laws of his domain expansion to Itadori, telling him that he has three options: quiet, denial, or confession. Each side will only have one chance to name their claim before the game ends.
After that, the Judegman will issue a judgement or issue a penal code to the person who has been accused with the crime.
Despite the fact that Itadori chose to lie and deny the facts, Higuruma’s proof readily disproves him. The Judge then finds Itadori guilty and orders him to be imprisoned for a period of time before being confiscated. After that, the domain expansion comes to a stop, and the two of them return to the actual world. He assaults Itadori with an expanded gravel, and when Itadori attempts to access his cursed energy to deflect the attack, he discovers that this is impossible.
He’s taking the strike head-on, with no cursed energy shielding him from harm. In spite of surviving the attack, Itadori is left wondering what to do as the chapter comes to a close.
Because Itadori’s cursed energy has been taken, Itadori is left with no choice except to use the cursed energy of his Sukuna to protect himself. I suppose this is something we haven’t seen since the Shibuya arc, so it will be quite interesting to watch how it plays out.
