Overview: Clayman (John Bergmeier) accuses Rimuru (Brittany Karbowski) of breaking a set of laws established by the Demon Lords at Walpurgis, which she denies.
Our Opinion: When the anime opening is cut from an episode’s first few minutes, you know you’re in for a long, drawn-out affair that will require all of the time available in the episode’s run time. That certainly pays off, as the Walpurgis meeting is called to order, and Clayman is clearly distinguished from his Demon Lord brothers by demonstrating exactly how much he does not belong in their ranks. Clayman’s actions in levelling charges against Rimuru and Carrion demonstrate exactly how accurate Cromwell’s comments were, as we see those criticisms brought to life in the form of how sad he truly is in the process.
Particularly considering not only how undignified he appears in comparison to others, but also how easy it is to poke holes in his storyline, as Demon Lord Dagruel demonstrated so eloquently. We are most definitely not laughing with Clayman’s fabrication, but it is extremely amusing to watch him perform it. Clayman’s fabrication consists of him putting on an absurdist skit that demonstrates just how much of a complete joke everyone knew him to be, one that we are most certainly not laughing with, but which is extremely amusing to watch nonetheless.
If the tremendous strength disparity between Clayman and Rimuru is clear in the way even Shion is beaten to a bloody pulp, the game becomes even more entertaining. Additionally, Slime continues to provide quick, powerful frames, with Eight Bit proving to be a master of momentum. It is necessary to take a brief break from the action to learn more about Beretta, the Arch Doll created by Rimuru for Ramiris, as she and the fairy Demon Lord plead with Guy to enable her to participate in the fight with Clayman. Even though it is fascinating to see how she perceives her two masters, Rimuru and Ramiris, not to mention her own temperament, the battle’s pace is severely slowed as a result of her mental dissection.
A thought-provoking conversation, but one that should’ve taken place at another time or before the battle even started in the first place. Malim’s raw might is just as monstrous as we have all witnessed, which makes her close calls with Rimuru rather compelling, and this is aided by fantastic animation throughout the series. A fantastic humorous transition is provided by a blow on the noggin from Malim as the fight nears its conclusion, but the action truly takes an interesting turn as it nears its conclusion with Veldora brought into the mix.
