Recap and Overview of Chapter 240 of Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War
Iino and Ishigami get ready for the school dance, and while there are a few mishaps along the way, they dance and have a fantastic time.
Almost as if to warn her two friends of what is to come, Kaguya tells them to get together so they can protect the school when she and Miyuki are no longer there.
As Miyuki has other commitments, Kaguya is forced to start the dance alone with Maki Shijo, who assures her that the Shijo family will defend her if she ever tries to flee the Shinomiyas. Although Kaguya appreciates the gesture, he refuses it since he believes it will only provide a temporary fix.
Later, Mikado proposes the last dance to Kaguya, confirming his sister’s request, but Miyuki comes. As Kaguya and he dance happily, she wishes that these moments would never end.
The chapter comes to a dramatic conclusion when we learn that the Shinomiya empire has fallen and that Kaguya has vanished. With the book ending on such a cliffhanger, a happy ending for the two significant characters seems improbable for the time being.
